Any of the titles prescribed for Grade 10 and 11 for 2005 and 2006 respectively may still be used as setworks for the Grade 11 learners of 2007, as may any of the titles previously prescribed for Grade 11, provided they are of a suitable standard for the learners concerned.

Some of the approved titles may offend certain readers. Teachers should therefore carefully examine the language and themes before making choices for their learners.

A school that would like to use a book not on these lists must discuss the possible use of that book with the Language curriculum adviser servicing that particular school.

The national Department of Education recently issued the attached Grade 11 Literature Study Lists for 2007. Because of the long lists provided, the Western Cape Education Department will not be setting provincial literature papers for Grade 11 in 2007, as was initially communicated to schools. Schools will therefore be required to set the various literature papers for the languages offered by their learners themselves.
