This circular amends the stipulations in paragraphs 3 and 4 of Circular 0035/2006 which expires on 2008/03/30, while the two lists in the attached annexures to this circular replace the lists on page 21 (Afrikaans) and page 53 (English) of the annexures that were attached to Circular 0035/2006.

Amendment to paragraph 3

| 2.1 |
Circular 0035/2006 announced that schools must, in the interim, choose 3 literature genres for Grade 11 First Additional Language At the time of sending out that circular, the national Department of Education had not taken a decision on this matter.

We can now inform you that, for Grades 10 and 11 First Additional Languages, schools must study at least TWO of the following genres for setwork examination purposes:
Novel
Drama
Short stories
Poetry

Amendment to paragraph 4

| 3.1 |
In paragraph 4 of Circular 0035/2006 it was announced that schools must, in the interim, choose 2 genres for Grade 11 Second Additional Language.

We can now inform you that, for Grades 10 and 11 Second Additional Languages, schools must study at least ONE of the following genres for setwork examination purposes:
Novel
Drama
Short Stories
Poetry

The lists of recommended plays for the Dramatic Arts in Grades 10 and 11 in 2007, sent out under cover of Circular 0035/2006, are hereby amended. Kindly replace them with the attached Annexure A (Afrikaans plays) and Annexure B (English plays).
