1. Introduction
1.1 Circular 0011/2006 provided general requirements for learners who offer the following Music programmes provided by the relevant accredited external Music bodies:
Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music Practical Music Examination
Trinity College of London Practical Music Examination
UNISA Practical Music Examination
1.2 The National Senior Certificate, which will be written for the first time in 2008, allows learners to offer one subject from an assessment body other than the Department of Education.
1.3 Such subjects may only be offered once they have been accommodated in national policy.

2. Approved subjects from external assessment bodies
2.1 The Minister of Education has provided in Circular S2 of 2006 the following approved subjects from the above three external assessment bodies:

2.2 Schools and learners are advised that subjects that have not been approved and are not listed in national education policy may not be offered as part of the National Senior Certificate and will thus not be taken into account for promotion purposes.
2.3 Learners who offer subjects from other assessment bodies not yet approved by the Minister of Education do so at their own risk. The Department of Education and WCED will not be liable for any costs incurred such as the purchasing of text books.
