In terms of the above-mentioned amendment Act, certain sections of the South African Schools Act, 1996 (Act 84/1996), and other Acts have been amended. A copy of Government Gazette 28426 of 26 January 2006 is attached for your convenience.

The above-mentioned amendments came into effect on the date of publication (26 January 2006) in the Government Gazette.

A further notice regarding the implementation of the legislation in respect of definite aspects will be provided to you by the relevant directorates of the Western Cape Education Department.
