1. Homework is part of the teaching and learning activities of schooling, and requires effective management by principals, educators, parents and learners.
2. Co-ordinated whole-school planning for the management of homework should prevent an overload of tasks for the learner.
3. The attached guideline document is intended as a tool for the effective management of homework in schools.
4. The guideline contains information and suggestions regarding the management of the amount and the nature of homework within the current outcomes-based curriculum context.
5. This guideline could be used by the school management team and the school governing body to develop a suitable school homework policy.
