2. The following information is provided to facilitate planning for 2005:
2.1 The orientation of all subject teachers involved in the Further Education and Training Band (FET Band) for Grades 10 to 12 will take place as follows:
2.1.1 Teachers from the four metropole EMDCs (North, East, South and Central), and one rural EMDC (West Coast/Winelands) will be involved in a five-day orientation programme from Monday 27 June to Friday 1 July 2005 during the June/July holidays.
2.1.2 Teachers from the two other rural EMDCs (Breede River/Overberg and South Cape/Karoo) will receive orientation from Monday 4 July to Friday 8 July 2005.
2.1.3 The orientation sessions for the following subjects will be conducted from 26 to 30 September 2005 during the September holidays:
Hospitality Studies
Tourism
Agricultural Sciences
Information Technology
2.2 School Management Teams (SMTs) will be invited to attend a one-day orientation session during the March/April holidays.
2.3 An upskilling course focusing on Personal Well-being, Outcome 1 of the Life Orientation National Curriculum Statement, will be held from Thursday 31 March to Saturday 2 April 2005 during the March/April school holidays for all Grade 10 Life Orientation teachers. As Life Orientation is one of the fundamental subject offerings, the upskilling and reskilling of teachers in preparation for the implementation of the FET: Life Orientation NCS in 2006 is of paramount importance.
3. Information regarding the venues for the above-mentioned orientation sessions will be made available before the end of February 2005.
4. All subject teachers must please study the FET NCS subject statements distributed to schools, as well as the Subject Information Guideline and Analysis of new subject knowledge, skills, methodology, IT and assessment requirements according to learning outcomes in preparation for the 2005 orientation events
