1.2 |
The attached timetable for the CTA Section B for November 2004 has been received from the national Department of Education. |
1.3 |
It is compulsory for all Grade 9 learners at all schools in the province to participate in the CTAs in all learning areas on the dates and at the times stipulated below. |
1.4 |
Schools will receive the national CTAs for Grade 9 learners in all eight learning areas during the third term of 2004. |
1.5 |
Please note that the CTAs must be treated with the strictest confidentiality and that they may not be made available to any unauthorised person or to any learner prior to their official conducting. |
2.1 |
Section A of the CTA (preparatory tasks) may be administered in schools from 4 October to 5 November 2004 in preparation for Section B. As Section A of the CTAs must form part of the normal teaching and learning process, the school must continue to function in the normal way during this time. |
2.2 |
As in the past, schools should adhere to the 4 to 5 hours allocated to each Section A CTA. Inevitably, schools differ from one another and therefore the time duration may differ from school to school and even within a particular school. However, the period of five weeks during which Section A must be completed, allows all schools enough time to complete these tasks according to their own needs and circumstances. |
3.1 |
Section B of the CTAs (individual tasks under controlled circumstances) must be administered according to the attached national timetable (Addendum A) from 8 November to 22 November 2004. |
3.2 |
The CTAs will be administered and assessed at school level. Principals must ensure that their schools have a management plan for this in place. |
3.3 |
The CTAs must be kept in the school strongroom and the security procedures applicable to the Senior Certificate examination also apply here. |
