The following addition to vacancy lists for Public Service Staff (PS 1/2003 to PS 6/2003) paragraph 1.3, must please be noted:

Applicants already on a higher level than the advertised posts (e.g. Senior Household Supervisor applying for posts of Household Supervisor) may apply and be considered for a horizontal transfer with retention of their current salary position. (Also see paragraph 4.3 of the vacancy lists). Applicants in other occupational classes, e.g. Senior Household Supervisor or Household Supervisor applying for posts of Household Aids (where no mobility exists between occupational classes) will, however, not be laterally transferred, but will have to accept the lower salary as advertised.

It should also be noted that although a post is advertised, the process of matching and placement of excess personnel into suitable vacancies would continue. The placing of an advertisement therefore does not imply that the filling of that post will be authorised by the WCED if an excess employee can be absorbed. Such a post will be regarded as erroneously advertised.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. The closing date for the above-mentioned posts has been postponed to 31 March 2003.

  2. The list of vacancies contained in Vacancy List PS 1/2003 is open to all permanent Public Service Staff within the WCED, who complies with the qualifying requirements. Excess staff will, however, receive preference in the final consideration of appointments. This include excess staff in lower ranks who meet the qualifying requirements e.g General Assistants, Household Aids & Security personnel.
