1. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED), in collaboration with the University of the Western Cape (UWC), and under the auspices of the national Department of Education, offer provincial and EMDC office-based educators, senior management teams of schools, and school-based educators (at high and primary schools) an opportunity to register for the above-mentioned course.
2. This two-year course will be offered as residential part-time study and successful applicants will be provided with extensive resources and reading material. Contact time for lectures will be in the late afternoon or in the evening, and block periods will be scheduled during weekends and school holidays. During times when no lectures are given, lecturers will provide ongoing support by way of telephone interviews, e-mail, or prearranged personal appointments. On-site support will also be provided in the case of modules requiring a direct practical application.
3. Only permanently appointed educators with a minimum qualification of M+3 may apply.
4. This ACE qualification will lead to an M+4 qualification or specialisation in integrating values and human rights into the curriculum. It equals 120 credit points at NQF level 6 with specialisation in human rights.

6. The  attached  application form, Annexure A, must be submitted to the Chief Curriculum Adviser of your EMDC by no later than 28 March 2003. Late applications will not be considered. The University of the Western Cape will contact successful applicants.
7. All tuition and registration fees, as well as accommodation expenses during bona fide contact time lectures, will be paid by the national Department of Education.
8. Head Office staff and EMDC officials must first consult with their supervisors before registering for this course.
