1. EXAMPLES OF COMMON TASKS FOR ASSESSMENT

1.1 Enclosed are examples of Grade 9 Common Tasks for Assessment (CTA), one for each learning area.
1.2 Educators are encouraged to use these tasks as part of their CASS requirements.
1.3 They are meant as extra resources to assist in the setting of standards and to accustom educators and learners to the concept of a CTA. They may also be used by EMDCs to train educators who have not previously received training about CTAs.
1.4 The enclosed documents are NOT the national CTAs that will be administered during the fourth term of this year.

2. 2003 GRADE 9 COMMON TASKS FOR ASSESSMENT

2.1 The national CTAs will be sent to schools by courier before the end of the third term of 2003.
2.2 All Grade 9 learners at all schools in the province will be required to do these tasks.
2.3 A copy of each learning area CTA will be printed for each Grade 9 learner in the province.
2.4 The keeping of the register is the responsibility of the principal or the head of an office and/or designated supervisory personnel under his.
2.5 The topographical map (3325 DC AND DD 3425 BA Port Elizabeth) and orthophoto map (3325 DC 23 Port Elizabeth), of which copies were issued to schools last year, will be used for the Social Sciences CTA again this year. Schools must please ensure that they have enough maps for all Grade 9 learners. Any shortages must be reported to the EMDC Chief Curriculum Advisors by 28 March 2003.

3. GENERAL

3.1 Please bring the contents of this circular to the attention of everybody concerned, including parents, guardians and learners.
3.2 Enquiries regarding the contents of this circular may be directed to directors and chief curriculum advisors attached to EMDCs.
