The Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) annually offers four types of bursaries administered by the SAMRO Endowment for the National Arts. The following information regarding these bursaries is provided to you at their request. |

These bursaries are available to students who are studying traditional, serious, jazz or popular music genres at a university, technikon or other recognised institution of tertiary education. |

The following categories of bursaries are offered: |

Bursaries to the value of R8 500 each, available to first and second year students |
3.2 |
|
Bursaries for Music Education Study to the value of R7 500 each, available to students in any year of undergraduate study |
3.3 |
|
Intermediate bursaries for composition study to the value of R9 000 each available to senior undergraduate students (third year, fourth year and honours level), or of R6 000 each, available to post-graduate students (masters and doctoral levels) |
3.4 |
|
Post-graduate research awards to the value of R5 500 each, available to masters and doctoral students who are doing research on Southern African indigenous music |
4. |
Applicants must be citizens of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho or Swaziland. |
