1. In terms of the WCED Interim Dance policy of May 2000, schools may apply annually for the allocation of a dance educator post.
2. The following criteria have to be met before the allocation of a dance educator post is considered:

  • A sufficient number of interested learners consistently present (a minimum of 70 in primary schools and 50 in high schools)

  • The availability of a suitable space for tuition, preferably a hall or dance studio, but at least a double classroom with the floor in good condition

  • The availability of a suitable music system for CDs and cassettes

  • After-hours' security guaranteed by the school

  • An appropriate timetable
3. Should you wish your school to be considered for the re-allocation of a dance educator post, please complete the attached questionnaire and submit it to The Director: Curriculum Development at Head Office by no later than Friday 14 November 2003. A WCED official will also visit the school during the first half of 2004 to have a look at the facilities, equipment and proposed timetable prior to recommending the continuation of the post in 2005.
