Dear Principals, Educators and Matric Candidates

That time of the year has again dawned when all the Senior Certificate candidates are preparing to sit for their final examinations. I want to thank all educators who have worked tirelessly to ensure that candidates are well prepared for the examinations. I will appreciate it if principals would ensure that all matriculants get to see this letter.

To all Matrics, remember that this is just one more examination. In a sense, you have been preparing for this occasion for the past twelve years. Also remember that you already have some marks in the bag - your continuous assessment marks gained during the course of the year. The examinations that lie ahead are important because they represent the completion of a particular phase of your lives and the beginning of the rest of your lives. Therefore, this is not an end, but a beginning.

I would also like you to remember that every opportunity for thorough final preparation is important and can make a difference to your ultimate result. So good luck with your final preparations and good luck with your examinations!

I hope that you will be proud of your achievements and that your results will once again help the Western Cape to achieve an excellent set of Senior Certificate results in 2003.

May all the hours of hard work you have put in for the examination be reflected in your results and serve as the basis for a bright future.

Yours sincerely
