Approval has been granted for an increase in the limit for the exemption of payment for essential private calls from official telephones (landlines) by personnel from R20,00 to R30,00 per month. The other arrangements in Circular 0080/2002 of 1 August 2002 are still applicable. |

From 1 November 2003 users of official cellphones (Western Cape Education Department) may also make essential private calls from official cellphones to a maximum of R30,00 per month. The cellphone policy of the Western Cape Education Department, as amended, is set out in Circulars 0090/01 of 21 August 2001 and 0073/2002 of 9 July 2002 respectively and is also still applicable. |

These concessions do not form part of the remuneration packages of personnel and, should the limit of R30,00 be exceeded, personnel will still be responsible for paying in the excess amount. |
