1. The Tirisano Schools' Choral Eisteddfod is a joint venture between the Department of Education and First National Bank.
2. The eisteddfod is organised and managed by a provincial steering committee, composed of representatives of the Department of Education, teachers’ unions, recognised cultural and music associations and interest groups that organise music competitions and festivals for schools.
3. One hundred and ninety-two schools took part in the EMDC elimination rounds and the provincial final round.
4. Sixteen schools were selected to represent the Western Cape at the national championships at the Dome in Randburg from 10 to 13 July 2003.
5. The following schools were placed first in their respective categories:

Panorama Primary School (Southern Cape/Karoo) - Sextet
Sivile Primary School (Metropole East) - African Song
Vuselela Primary School (Metropole East) - Afrikaans
Sinethemba Secondary School (Metropole South) - Soprano Solo
Harry Gwala Secondary School (Metropole East) - Operatic Ensembles
Fezeka Secondary School (Metropole South) - Mezzo Soprano Solo

6. The following schools were runner-ups in their respective categories:

Bridgton Junior Secondary School (Southern Cape/Karoo) - Sextet and Mixed Double Quartet
Fezeka Secondary School (Metropole South) - Duet
Sithembele Matiso Secondary School (Metropole South) - English.

7. The following schools achieved the third position in their respective categories:

Sivuyiseni Primary School (Metropole East) - Mixed Double Quartet
Kenmere Primary School (Metropole Central) - Own choice
Siyabulela Primary School (Metropole Central) - English
Thembelihle Secondary School (Metropole East) - Bass Solo
Fezeka Secondary School (Metropole South) - African Song
Huguenot High School (West Coast/Winelands) - Own choice

8. The Western Cape Education Department has also noted with pride the outstanding achievements of Pheliswa Hermanus, learner at Sinethemba Secondary School and Zolina Ngejane, learner at Fezeka Secondary School who were awarded the highest marks at the eisteddfod for their respective solo performances.
9. The Western Cape Education Department wishes to thank and congratulate all role players involved and the schools that took part in this musical event.
