The Directorate: Institutional Management and Governance Planning, and in particular the Subdirectorate: GET and FET Schools, has been commissioned to co-ordinate the process of reviewing and updating The Guidelines for School Management and School Governance File, the blue file, which was issued to schools in 1999. |

Since the original release of the document in 1999, significant changes in education like the National Curriculum Statements, the HIV/Aids policy, Inclusive Education and Quality Assurance, have resulted in new initiatives and information. |

Schools will be furnished with revised versions of pages or chapters on a regular basis and they will be requested to replace the existing pages in the blue file with the revised pages. By doing so they will ensure that their reference files remain updated, and this will facilitate the day-to-day management and governance of the school. |

The Subdirectorate: GET and FET Schools will provide the documentation to schools. |
