In pursuance of Circular 0126/2002 of 30 September 2002, you are hereby informed that the Minister for the Public Service and Administration has now issued a directive enabling the Departments themselves to purchase watches for employees who have completed 30 years' uninterrupted satisfactory service. |

Persons who qualified for a watch up to 31 March 2003 will be informed shortly of the type of watch that may be selected. |
| 3. |
Personnel who qualified from 1 April 2003 will be informed of their position in due course, as negotiations regarding the type of recognition that they should receive are still continuing at central level. |

Everything possible is being done to bring the whole process up to date and to complete it as soon as possible. |
