The National Department of Education has contracted Stats-SA to conduct a national audit to determine the capacity of the system to introduce outcomes-based education in the Further Education and Training Band (FET Band). The scope of the survey includes an examination of teacher qualifications and readiness, an evaluation of resources and equipment and a study of the readiness within provincial and district offices. |

The questionnaires will be supplied to schools directly from Pretoria at the start of the third term. |

The proposed date for submission of completed forms is 15 August 2003. EMDCs will contact their schools to arrange return details and to provide any support that they may need in the accurate completion of the forms. |

Accurate data is essential for proper planning and budgeting. As the research in question is of vital importance, every school is urged to complete the required forms meticulously and to submit them timeously. |
