National Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) Week will be held in all nine provinces from Monday 5 May to Saturday 10 May 2003. The aim is to make people more aware and excited about the benefits of science, engineering and technology in their everyday lives. Educators are encouraged to support this venture.

The theme of the event is: “Taking Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) to our People”.

The Foundation for Education, Science and Technology (FEST), is the national co-ordinator of the project on behalf of the Department of Science and Technology.

Objectives:

  • To attract the media and generate public interest in SET
  • To raise the profile of SET in the eyes of the public
  • To offer organizations and individuals the opportunity of exposing the public to the involvement of SET in their daily lives
  • To provide a wide range of stimulating and interactive SET experiences
  • To develop a culture of SET in South Africa
