During October 2013 school libraries across the world and in South Africa will celebrate and promote library and information services at schools, using the theme "School Libraries: Doorways to Life". The month of October was declared International School Library Month (ISLM) by the the International Association of School Librarianship. |

In order to celebrate the importance of school libraries during ISLM, those in charge of school libraries around the world are encouraged to choose a day in October 2013 that best suits their particular situation, even though 28 October 2013 is officially International School Library Day. |

Schools are encouraged to send a full report (including pictures) for publication to their district school library adviser on what they have done during ISLM. (See paragraphs 6 and 7 below.) |

the official ISLM logo to use in promotional material. (Note that this logo must be used only for publicising ISLM and not for commercial purposes.) |
